Con Dao – a remote island group off southern Vietnam – remains one of the few places where nature still feels completely untouched. When I first set foot here, I was mesmerized by the crystal-clear turquoise sea, golden soft sands, and deep green rainforests stretching over the hills.

Coral restoration: In another program, I got to help place small coral fragments into artificial frames, supporting the reef’s recovery.

These conservation activities helped me understand the fragility of nature and the importance of sustainable tourism. It was humbling — a moment of real connection with the environment.

Con Dao Prison: Beyond nature, the island carries a powerful history. Visiting the Con Dao Prison — a site of immense suffering and resilience during wartime — was deeply moving. The preserved cells, relics, and stories of revolutionary fighters left a lasting impression on me.
